  1. The Monument Men - story of recovering art treasures stolen by
Nazi during WW II. Didn't know Hitler was constructing an audacious art gallery in his hometown to display art from their looting. Allied forces found thousands of art treasures uncataloged and stuffed into warehouses in southern Germany.

  2. Body of Lies
    David Ignatius

I normally don't read spy fiction except by Le Carre and few others. Especially not about Iraq / Afghanistan fiasco.
Ignatius has written a richly detailed, highly complex tale that has all the elements of a thriller that I'm sure will be a classic. The killing of 8 CIA agents in Afghanistan at Xmas was chilling in that Ignatius almost foretold this. All the elements were there; Jordanian mission, double or triple agents, CIA lusting for intelligence to "get" high level Al Queda leaders. And it turned into a bloody disaster.
Read this to get the back story.
